What percentage of your income would this rent use?

Enter take-home income and rent to calculate the share used by rent after both figures are converted to the same frequency. The result is descriptive: it does not tell you what you can afford or predict how an application will be assessed.

What comes in each month?

Use the combined monthly take-home income for everyone applying.

After tax, across everyone applying. Enter 1400 or 1,400.00.

Figures stay in this browser while you calculate. Only if you choose the application transfer is the advertised rent and period added. If you allow analytics, pseudonymous usage events contain the tool, market, an ephemeral attempt ID and standard attribution — never these figures.

Common questions

What does this calculator calculate?

It converts the rent and take-home income you enter to the same frequency, then divides rent by income and multiplies by 100. The result is a percentage, not a recommendation or an affordability decision.

Does the result tell me how much rent I can afford?

No. The calculation does not include expenses, debt, savings, taxes, household needs, future changes or a recipient's criteria. Use it only to describe the relationship between the two figures you entered.

Does the calculator model an agent's or landlord's criteria?

No. Criteria and verification methods can vary, and this calculator does not reproduce them. Check the listing or ask the relevant recipient what information and calculation they use.

Does this calculator store my income details?

The calculation runs in your browser and the figures you type are not sent with analytics. If you allow analytics, we record pseudonymous usage events with the tool, market, an ephemeral attempt ID and standard attribution, without income, rent or calculated results. A later RentFiles application is a separate flow.
