Who this is for

Equal or agreed room shares

Equal allocation divides one household rent by the number of people. Room-share allocation multiplies that rent by agreed percentages, which must total 100%. These are household inputs, not an independent assessment of room value.

Worked example

Illustrative scenario

A household rent of 900 split equally among three people gives 300 each for the same period. Agreed 50/30/20 room shares give 450, 270 and 180.

Income-weighted allocation

Each person's weight is their entered income divided by the sum of the entered incomes. Use comparable income periods for everyone. These figures remain browser-local and never become analytics properties.

Rounding and responsibility

The existing calculator allocates rounding remainders so the displayed shares total the rent. A suggested split is not a legal agreement, a fairness verdict or a change to anyone's responsibilities under a tenancy contract.

Frequently asked questions

Does the result decide my application or legal position?

No. It reports scoped arithmetic or source guidance. Your agreement, the recipient's assessment and applicable exceptions remain separate.

Are my entered figures sent with analytics?

The calculation runs in your browser. If you allow analytics, pseudonymous usage events contain the tool, market and an ephemeral attempt ID, not your amounts, documents or individual result.
